How to get your website indexed in Google and other search engines

For budding web developers and bloggers getting their website indexed in Google and other search engines can be a very tricky task. The best kind of traffic is from search engines, its good for Adsense, CPA and affiliate models. If you’re website is not listed in search engines or is listed after very long time then your website is doomed to fail.

But you don’t have to worry, we have prepared a guide for you on “How to Get your website indexed in Google and other search engines”. Just follow the steps given below and you will notice the difference afterwards. You’re site will be listed and you will get traffic which is interested in your content.

Getting indexed on Google

The most important search engine is Google, if you are not on Google you are not on the Internet. So first priority is always give to Google. Google will dive into your HTML source code of webpage and scan for meta tags. If you’re site lacks meta tags you’re Search Engine Result Page(SERP) will be very low or you may not be indexed.

Step – 1 . Always use Meta Tags,they are like communication channels of your website. Check out this awesome tutorial on Meta Tags by W3 Schools. Please remember your website can be indexed without meta tags also but you will not be ranked higher or later you’re site might be de-listed. So always use meta tags.

Step – 2. Google has utility known as Google URL submitter. Just enter the url of your website and fill the captcha and google’s bot will index your website. You can access this tool from here.

Step-3. Use your Google account for Google Webmasters tool. This tool is very powerful and can be you’re websites best friend. In Webmasters tool you have to submit the sitemap of your website. Sitemap contains all the recent urls generated. Many platforms like WordPress,Tumblr,Blogger automatically generate sitemaps.

But if you are using simple html based website you can use the following service. Generate the sitemap and submit it and see how quickly your website is indexed.

Step-4. Create backlinks to your website. Backlinks are nothing but other websites referring to your website. To create backlinks you can go to forums and post about your website or comment on other websites. This kind of backlinking is known as manual backlinking.

Backlinks helps your website to get a higher page rank and higher serp rankings.

Step-5. Pinging backlinks

Creating backlinks is not enough you have to notifiy search engines and blogging or news websites about the links you created. Manually it can be very tedious task, but there are some services which can do this automatically.

To get your website indexed in Bing/Yahoo the above steps can be followed but with minor modifications.

You have to change step-2 that’s instead of Google Webmasters tools, we will use Bing webmaster tool(Yahoo and Bing use same search engine). Just access Bing Webmaster Tool and submit the sitemap and follow the same steps as above.
